What Does it Mean to Protect an Article?
Protecting, or locking an article means to exclude it from editing from a certain third-party. An article can be open for anonymous wiki contributors, registered editors, or only administrators and bureaucrats to edit.
Who Can Protect Articles
Administrators and Bureaucrats are the only ones who can lock articles, and unlock them.
Why Must an Article Be Protected
- Edit Warring.
- Spam or Vandalism.
- Various Misleading Information.
How Long Should an Article be Protected
If anything minor, such as small spams, then the article will be locked for a general period of two weeks. However, if anything is deemed serious, then it will be locked for infinite until the administrator or bureaucrat who locked it feels that it is free to edit again.
